Tbilisi (GBC)- Global Finance, the world's leading financial publication, named Koba Gvenetadze, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, among 2021 top central bank governors for the fourth time already.

Global Finance included the Governor of the National Bank of Georgia in its ratings for the first time in 2018. Similar to the previous three years, Governor Gvenetadze is among the peers who were granted “A” and “A-“ grades. The 2021 Central Banker Report Cards ranked 101 central bankers. Along with Koba Gvenetadze, this year’s list of the chosen includes: Jerome Powell, the US Federal Reserve Governor, Israel’s Amir Yaron, New Zealand’s Adrian Ori and other central bank governors.

Widely recognized in the international financial community, the Global Finance Award reflects the high reputation and successful performance of the awarded individuals and banks. Central Bank Governor assessments are based on several areas of policy pursued by the central banks under their leadership.

“The last year kept central bank governors on high alert, as a global health crisis threatened fiscal as well as physical health. Central bankers used all the tools at their disposal to mitigate the immediate threat.” the publication said.

"With the pandemic still surging in many areas, and inflation emerging as a major area of concern once again, the world's central bankers are confronting multiple challenges from multiple directions," said Global Finance publisher and editorial director Joseph Giarraputo.

According to the publication, Governor Gvenetadze remained vigilant and decisive against rising and stubbornly high inflation.
